These guidelines explain how listings, verification, featured placements and reviews work on TopLawyer.ae. They form part of our Terms & Conditions.
1. Who can be listed
- Law firms and advocates licensed to practise before the courts of the UAE.
- Legal consultancies and foreign law firms licensed to operate in an Emirate or a free zone, such as the DIFC or ADGM.
- Individual legal consultants and in-house practitioners who hold the licences required for the services they describe.
We do not list unlicensed individuals offering legal services, "typing centres" presented as law firms, or businesses that cannot show the right to provide the services described.
2. What a listing must contain
- The practitioner's or firm's real, registered name — no keyword stuffing or misleading titles.
- A working business phone number or email and an accurate office location.
- Practice areas the practitioner actually handles.
- Factual descriptions only. Do not promise results, quote success rates you cannot prove, use superlatives such as "best lawyer in the UAE" as statements of fact, or disparage other practitioners.
3. Claiming, correcting or removing a listing
Some listings were created from publicly available information so that people can find legal help. If a listing is about you or your firm, you can:
- Claim it — use the "Claim Listing" button on the profile and provide proof that you are authorised to manage it, such as an email from the firm's domain or a copy of the trade licence.
- Correct it — edit it from your account once claimed, or tell us what is wrong.
- Remove it — ask us to unpublish it. We normally act on verified requests within 5 business days.
Email help@ranker.ae for any listing request.
4. What "Verified" means
A Verified badge means that, at the time of verification, we confirmed that the listing is managed by the practitioner or firm, and we reviewed a current trade licence or professional licence and matching contact details.
Verification is not an endorsement, a quality rating or a guarantee of ongoing licensing. Licences can lapse after verification, so always check the practitioner's status with the competent authority before instructing them. We may remove the badge if information changes or cannot be re-confirmed.
5. Featured and sponsored placements
- Featured positions are paid for and always labelled "Featured".
- Paying for a placement never buys a Verified badge, better reviews, or coverage in our legal guides.
- Featured listings must meet the same standards as every other listing.
6. Review guidelines
Reviews help others choose counsel, so they must be genuine and fair. Reviews must:
- be based on your own first-hand experience as a client or prospective client;
- describe the service — communication, clarity on fees, responsiveness — rather than attack individuals;
- not reveal confidential case details, court documents, or personal information about anyone;
- not be written by the practitioner, their staff or a competitor, and not be exchanged for money, discounts or other rewards; and
- not contain insults, threats, discriminatory language or unproven allegations of criminal conduct, which may be unlawful under UAE law.
7. How we moderate reviews
- Reviews may be checked before or after publication. We may reject or remove reviews that break these guidelines.
- We do not remove a review simply because it is negative, and we do not edit its meaning.
- Practitioners who have claimed their listing may post one public, professional reply to a review.
- Ratings shown on cards are calculated only from published reviews. We never display invented ratings.
8. Reporting a listing or review
If you believe a listing is misleading or a review breaks these guidelines, email help@ranker.ae with the page link and the reason. We review every report.
